Basic and Detailed Design to Start in Second Half, Construction Begins in 2025
The design proposal for the new Incheon City Hall, scheduled for completion in 2027, has been unveiled.
On the 18th, Incheon City announced that the consortium led by Haean Comprehensive Architects Office's work titled "Integrated City Hall, Overlapping Gardens" was finally selected in the design competition for the new city hall construction project.
Earlier, the city launched an international design competition in March to prepare the city hall design proposal. A total of 56 firms registered to participate, submitting 9 entries either individually or as consortia.
After technical evaluations and two rounds of final judging, five winning entries were selected. In particular, to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation, the second round of final judging on the 16th was broadcast live online through Incheon City's official YouTube channel.

View original imageThe second place went to the consortium led by Heerim Comprehensive Architects Office, third place to the consortium led by Haema Comprehensive Architects Office, fourth place to the consortium led by Comprehensive Architects Office Geonwon, and fifth place to the consortium led by POSCO A&C Architects Office.
An official from Incheon City stated, "The new city hall will be reborn as a complex space connecting Incheon's past, present, and future, and we will do our utmost to build it so that it can actively respond to future administrative changes."

Meanwhile, the new city hall will be constructed at a cost of 284.8 billion KRW on the east parking lot (sports ground) of the current city hall site, with three underground floors and 17 above-ground floors (total floor area of 80,417 square meters). Basic and detailed design will begin in the second half of this year, construction will start in 2025, and completion is targeted for December 2027.
