Goheung-gun to Create 'Five Senses Experience Forest' in Goheung Bay

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it is accelerating the establishment of tourism infrastructure by region with the goal of realizing the "Era of 10 Million Tourists" in the 8th local government administration.

According to the county, the Gohung Bay area, being developed as a new tourism hub, will be transformed into a year-round complex tourist destination for family tourists by creating the "Five Senses Experience Forest," where the four seasons of Gohung come alive.

The "Five Senses Experience Forest Creation Project" is a project to create a forest rest area in the Gohung Bay region, aimed at satisfying the diverse healing needs of local residents and visitors through the forest and providing a pleasant and beautiful forest landscape.

Gohung-gun plans to start the project in July, investing a total of about 2 billion KRW in an area of 37,927㎡ around Yongdong-ri, Dodeok-myeon, and plans to uniquely develop three themes under the concept of "forest": ▲Scenic Forest ▲Fragrant Forest ▲Rest Forest.

The "Scenic Forest" will complement existing plantings and create a visually attractive space harmonizing with the blue sea of Gohung Bay. The "Fragrant Forest" will plant fragrant species such as Osmanthus to provide a space where visitors can relax while enjoying natural scents. The "Rest Forest" will be developed as a healing area with seasonal themed plantings for rest activities.

Once the healing forest utilizing ecological activity spaces is established in Gohung Bay, it is expected to become a local healing spot by improving the outdoor environment and expanding green spaces, creating a beautiful landscape where the forest environment in nature is alive.

A county official said, "We will do our best to promote this project so that the insufficient forest space around the Gohung district park can be secured and developed into a tourist destination where various themes such as play culture, water play facilities, and waterfront sunset park breathe."
