A Chinese researcher working at a national research institute in Japan was arrested on charges of leaking research content to a Chinese company.
According to the Yomiuri Shimbun on the 15th local time, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested a Chinese national chief researcher affiliated with Japan's national research institute, the "National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology," on charges of sending research content on fluorine-based compounds conducted since 2018 to a Chinese company.
The leaked information is known to be advanced technology related to the synthesis of fluorine-based compounds.
The researcher had been working at the institute since 2002 and concurrently held a faculty position at Beijing University of Technology for a period.
