Surpassing December 2017 Record of 1.25 Million
K-pop is captivating audiences worldwide. The monthly attendance record has been broken for the first time in six years.
On the 15th, Hyundai Motor Securities reported, "The number of attendees at K-pop concerts in May reached 1.34 million, surpassing the previous peak of 1.25 million set in December 2017." This represents a 190% increase compared to the same period last year. Asia led the market with 920,000 attendees (490,000 in Japan), while the United States recorded 340,000 attendees, accounting for 25% of the total.
By entertainment company, HYBE attracted the largest audience with 560,000 attendees, driven by BTS's SUGA and Tomorrow X Together's U.S. tours. JYP Entertainment (JYP) with TWICE drew 250,000 attendees, YG Entertainment (YG) with BLACKPINK had 220,000, and SM Entertainment (SM) with Red Velvet and NCT followed with 160,000 attendees.

The expected K-pop concert attendance for this month is 1 million. This includes TWICE's U.S. tour (210,000), TVXQ's dome tour (200,000), BLACKPINK's Born Pink tour (160,000), and SUGA's U.S. tour (100,000). By company, SM is projected to have 350,000 attendees, JYP 230,000, YG 160,000, and HYBE 130,000.
