Busan Gijang-gun Health Center and Korean Senior Citizens Association Sign Agreement for Elderly Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention
The Mental Health Welfare Center of Busan Gijang-gun Public Health Center signed a business agreement on the 9th with the Jeonggwan 1st and 2nd Branches of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Busan Gijang-gun Chapter to promote mental health and prevent suicide among the elderly in the area.
This business agreement includes various support such as reducing the elderly suicide rate, providing mental health programs and education, activating connections for high-risk suicide groups, and conducting counseling.
The Mental Health Welfare Center plans to conduct 'Suicide Prevention Life Keeper' education and promote the 'Saengsaeng Maeultong' project, which discovers welfare blind spots for high-risk suicide groups, at senior centers affiliated with Jeonggwan 1st and 2nd Branches to foster a culture of suicide prevention and respect for life.
An official from the county Mental Health Welfare Center said, “We will actively intervene and continuously support mental health services to reduce the elderly suicide rate and promote mental health in Jeonggwan-eup.”

The Mental Health Welfare Center is promoting various suicide prevention and health promotion projects such as severe management projects for the welfare of people with mental illnesses, mental health screening tests, counseling, campaigns, and education for the prevention and early intervention of mental health problems among county residents.
