"Why Did You Touch My Luggage?" 70-Year-Old Chinese Man Arrested for Disturbance at Incheon Airport

A woman in her 70s from China was arrested by the police for causing a disturbance while protesting baggage inspection at the transfer area of Incheon International Airport.

On the 12th, the Incheon Airport Police announced that they had booked a 70-year-old Chinese national, Ms. A, without detention on charges of violating the Aviation Security Act and sent her to the prosecution.
Ms. A is accused of shouting loudly and causing a disturbance at the transfer area of Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport around 5:30 a.m. on the 6th.
Ms. A, who was traveling from Hong Kong to the United States via Incheon Airport, reportedly acted out after being stopped by security personnel for violating baggage regulations.
Under current law, international passengers are prohibited from carrying liquids in containers exceeding 100 ml into the aircraft cabin, but she was found to possess shampoo, toothpaste, and other items exceeding 200 ml.
When the security personnel opened her bag to check the prohibited items, Ms. A scratched the arm of a security officer, injuring two people who received medical treatment at a hospital.
The police, who arrived at the scene after receiving a report, arrested Ms. A in the act, investigated her, and then released her.

Meanwhile, according to Article 50 of the Aviation Security Act, anyone who obstructs the duties of aviation security personnel performing security checks at the airport or those controlling access to restricted areas, or commits acts of assault or bodily harm, shall be punished by imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won.
