The first store is located near Gangnam Station (435 Gangnam-daero, Seocho-gu, Seoul), with a total area of 618㎡ (184 pyeong) across two floors and about 150 seats. Full-scale operations will begin from 11 a.m. on the 26th.
FGKorea Inc., a subsidiary of Hanwha Galleria responsible for operating Five Guys in Korea, plans to open more than 15 stores over the next five years starting with the first store opening. From that day, an on-site recruitment event (Open House Recruiting Day) will also be held at the new store.
The domestic launch of Five Guys has been led by Kim Dong-seon, Head of Strategy at Hanwha Galleria, from securing the brand to preparing for the first store opening. In April, Kim participated in hands-on training with staff in Hong Kong, where the Asia-Pacific headquarters is located.
After the training, Kim said, "I was very impressed by how they adjusted quality through repetitive practice, from the direction and number of times to pour the sauce to the strength used to press the patty," adding, "We will pay special attention to maintaining quality so that the spirit of craftsmanship can be felt in domestic stores as well."
FGKorea plans to preserve the 'originality' of the U.S. mainland as much as possible, from cooking methods to service. In particular, they have focused on establishing a stable domestic potato supply chain to replicate the taste of Russet potatoes, a representative potato variety in the U.S.
Free peanuts, just like in U.S. stores, will also be provided. Earlier, Head Kim personally announced the fact of 'free peanut provision' at Five Guys on his social media.
