"Will Continue Protests... The Fight Has Just Begun"

Thunberg recalled the time when she first started the school strike in August 2018.
She said, "When I first started the school strike in 2018, I had no idea what kind of outcome it would lead to," adding, "After striking every day for three weeks, we were a small group of children who decided to continue this every Friday."
The school strike began in August 2018 when Thunberg, absent from school, protested in front of the Swedish Parliament, urging action against climate change.
At that time, she refused to attend school and protested as a form of rebellion against mainstream politicians and older generations who ignored environmental destruction and did not actively respond to climate change.
This protest spread worldwide under the slogan "Fridays For Future (FFF)," and in 2019, millions of young people around the world joined the school strikes for climate, filling the streets of over 180 countries.
Thunberg stated, "Strictly speaking, it is no longer a 'school strike,' but I will continue protesting every Friday," and expressed a solemn determination, saying, "There is no other choice but to do everything we can. The fight has only just begun."
