Shinan-gun Holds Completion Ceremony for 99MW Large-scale Imja Solar Power Plant
3131 Imja Residents Receive Quarterly Sunlight Pension Benefits Ranging from 400,000 to 100,000 Won Per Person
Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do held a completion ceremony for the 99MW Imja Solar Power Plant on the 9th in Imja-myeon, where the fifth round of sunlight pension payments is being made.

According to the county on the 10th, the ceremony was held at Daegwang Beach event hall with about 200 attendees, including heads of Imja social organizations and local residents, Park Jae-deok, CEO of Haesolla Energy, Seo Geon-gi, Vice President of SK E&S, Lee Yong-geol, CEO of SMRE, Yoo Seung-hee, CEO of PEAK ENERGY, and other project stakeholders.
The Imja Solar Power Plant has a capacity of 99MW, with a total project cost of 185 billion KRW. According to the 'Ordinance on Sharing Benefits from Renewable Energy Development,' residents participated with 4% of the total project cost, amounting to 7.4 billion KRW. Commercial operation began in October last year, and on April 26, the first sunlight pension was paid to 3,131 residents of Imjado, ranging from 400,000 KRW to 100,000 KRW per person quarterly.

County Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “With the completion of the Imja Solar Power Plant, 10,524 residents, accounting for 28% of the county’s population, will benefit from the sunlight pension. Additionally, a 200MW solar power plant in Bigeumdo is scheduled for 2023, and approximately 400MW solar power plants in Jeungdo and Sinui in 2024 will be constructed, which is expected to provide sunlight pensions to 17,236 residents, or 46% of the population. We will continue to promote policies for the distribution of renewable energy and income generation for residents so that they can benefit.”
