A female teacher at an elementary school in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, is suspected of physically and emotionally abusing two students in her class. The teacher has since stepped down from her position as homeroom teacher.
According to a report by Yonhap News on the 9th, Ms. A, a third-grade homeroom teacher at an elementary school in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, punished two students, including a 10-year-old boy identified as B, by making them raise their hands at the back of the classroom for about 15 minutes because they laughed during class on the morning of the 19th of last month.
After the class ended, while other students moved to attend English class, Ms. A told B and the other student not to go and instead come to the front of the classroom.
She then asked the students, "Do you think I'm easy?" and tripped them several times with her foot.
After the student who had fallen got up, she even punched him in the abdomen.
B’s parents claim that when B burst into tears after being hit in the stomach, Ms. A emotionally abused him by saying things like, "Your dad said it's okay to hit you."

In a written account of the incident, B said, "My heart still pounds, and the teacher is very scary," adding, "My stomach hurts from being hit, so I couldn't eat or go to soccer practice. Also, my wrist hurt when I fell, and it still hurts now."
He continued, "The teacher usually didn't let us go to the playground if we failed the English test," and said, "If even one student in our class failed the English test, no one was allowed to go to the playground. I felt very sorry because I couldn't go to the playground with my friends due to my poor English."
After being assaulted by Ms. A, B has been receiving psychiatric treatment and is reportedly suffering from aftereffects such as nightmares, insomnia, and nail-biting. B’s parents and others filed a complaint against the teacher and strongly demanded the school replace the homeroom teacher, leading the school to promptly make the change.
B’s parents told Yonhap News, "Ms. A shouted at parents who came to protest and is suspected of leaking parents’ personal information externally," adding, "We hope the truth will be revealed through police investigation and appropriate measures will be taken." Ms. A has not yet made any public statements regarding the matter.
