Jinan-gun Selected for 'Nongchon Saetteul Maeul Project' Four Consecutive Years
Jinan-gun, Jeonbuk Province (Governor Jeon Chun-seong) has been selected for the ‘Rural Vulnerable Area Living Condition Improvement Project’ (hereinafter referred to as the Rural Saetteul Village Project), organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, for the fourth consecutive year.
The Saetteul Village Project is a program that supports the expansion of essential living infrastructure such as safety and sanitation, improvement of residential environments, and strengthening of resident capabilities to ensure the basic living standards of residents in vulnerable areas, and Wonbanwol Village in Jinan-eup has been selected.
Wonbanwol Village, selected for the public contest project, applied for the project in collaboration with the county office after several rounds of resident opinion gathering and meetings led by Village Chief Kim Jin-cheol and Women’s Association President Son Hong-i to improve the vulnerable village. Governor Jeon Chun-seong also actively engaged in prompt administration by visiting relevant central government departments multiple times to secure project selection.
The governor met with project officials to explain the urgency of ensuring the basic living standards of local residents and revitalizing the declining village. He has continuously requested cooperation and support to maintain Jinan-gun as the number one village-making area facing the risk of population extinction.
As a result, Jinan-gun achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the public contest for four consecutive years: ▲2019 Magudong District ▲2020 Sayang District in Jinan-eup and Hano District in Donghyang-myeon ▲2021 Sangbaek District in Baegun-myeon ▲2022 Mugeo District in Jeongcheon-myeon.
This project has designated the project district first, and the project budget will be finalized in December, with plans to proceed over four years from 2024 to 2027.
With this public contest project selection, the county expects to improve poor residential environments and strengthen village autonomy by enhancing resident capabilities, transforming villages at risk of extinction into sustainable communities.
