Geumcheon-gu Hosts 'Geumcheon Eco Life Day' Event
Held at Geumcheon-gu Office Plaza at 10 a.m. on the 8th
Experience event under the theme ‘Practicing Carbon Neutrality in Daily Life’
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held the ‘Geumcheon Eco Life Day’ event at the district office plaza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 8th, in celebration of Environment Day week (June 5).
Geumcheon Eco Life Day is a unique carbon neutrality practice event designated by Geumcheon-gu on June 5, 2012, as a day to self-check green lifestyle practices and pledge to carry them out.
This event was conducted under the theme ‘Birth [誕生] - Practicing Carbon Neutrality in Daily Life’ together with the ‘Geumcheon-gu 2050 Carbon Neutrality Citizen Practice Group,’ composed of residents, civic groups, and environmental activists from companies.
At the district office plaza, various carbon neutrality experience and practice booths were operated so that residents could learn about carbon neutrality and enjoy hands-on activities in their daily lives.
The carbon neutrality ‘Learn’ program included ▲ Exhibition of award-winning works from the Seoul Environmental Art Contest ▲ Exhibition and experience of green products ▲ Operation of a neighborhood zero market.
The carbon neutrality ‘Experience’ and ‘Practice’ programs included ▲ Planting air-purifying plants that capture fine dust ▲ Upcycling sock yarn craft experience ▲ Tasting fruit juice made directly with a self-powered bicycle ▲ Making Earth Love penguin bracelets and eco pouches ▲ Eco-friendly kitchen detergent refill experience ▲ Challenge! Carbon Neutrality Quiz.
Additionally, bringing a tumbler earned visitors a free iced cold brew coffee, and bringing reusable containers earned free vegan cookies.
