Sunae Station 'Wrong-way' Accident... Kim Byung-wook "Thorough Investigation of Accident Cause Needed"
Regarding the escalator 'reverse operation' accident at Sunae Station on the Bundang Line, Kim Byung-wook, a member of the Democratic Party representing the Bundang district, expressed his regret and raised his voice, saying, "The cause of the accident must be thoroughly investigated."
On the morning of the 8th, Kim shared a related article on his social media service (SNS) and said, "I sincerely offer my condolences to the injured and subway passengers who must have been shocked during the rush hour. I wish the injured a speedy recovery."
At around 8 a.m. that day, the upward escalator at Exit 2 of Sunae Station on the Bundang Line in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, reversed direction, injuring 14 people. Among them, 11 were lightly injured and sent home, but 3 were transported to the hospital.

Kim said, "We are additionally checking the condition of the injured. The Korea Railroad Corporation, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, police, and other related agencies must thoroughly identify the cause of the accident and establish measures to prevent recurrence. Furthermore, support should not be spared to ensure that the injured receive proper treatment. As a member of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, I will closely monitor further developments and take care of what needs to be done for the recovery of the injured."
