Escalator Runs Backward at Sunae Station, Bundang-gu During Morning Commute... 14 People Sustain Minor to Moderate Injuries
An escalator installed at Sunae Station in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province, ran in reverse, causing injuries to 14 passengers.
According to Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), at around 8:25 a.m. on the 8th, the escalator at Exit 2 of Sunae Station on the Bundang Line malfunctioned, resulting in 14 passengers being transported to nearby hospitals. The fire authorities have determined that the escalator, which was going up at Exit 2 of Sunae Station, suddenly ran in the opposite direction, causing people to fall one after another.

As a result of this accident, 14 passengers were transported to Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, CHA Hospital, and Armed Forces Capital Hospital. Eleven of them received medical treatment and were sent home, while the remaining three are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
The escalator involved in the accident is operated by Hana LS under consignment from KORAIL, and KORAIL is currently investigating the cause of the accident together with the Elevator Safety Management Corporation.
