Gwangjin-gu Holds ‘One-Person Household Policy Idea Contest Award Ceremony’... ‘Storage for Belongings of One-Person Households with Limited Living Space’ Wins Grand Prize
On the 7th, Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho and six awardees discuss one-person household policies
A total of eight winners honored, from Grand Prize (1 million KRW) to Encouragement Prize (100,000 KRW)
Selected policy ideas to be reviewed for various possibilities and reflected in work plans
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) held the ‘One-Person Household Policy Idea Contest Award Ceremony’ on the 7th.
The ‘One-Person Household Policy Idea Contest,’ held throughout March with the themes of ▲Safety ▲Health ▲Isolation & Economy ▲Housing to resolve inconveniences faced by one-person households, was planned to discover beneficiary-centered customized policies in response to the rapidly increasing number of one-person households.
The district selected winners through a first-round judging committee and a second-round citizen participation online vote via Seoul City’s M-Voting, awarding a total of eight winners: ▲Grand Prize (1 person, 1 million KRW) ▲Excellence Award (1 person, 500,000 KRW) ▲Merit Award (3 persons, 300,000 KRW each) ▲Encouragement Award (3 persons, 100,000 KRW each).
At the award ceremony, Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho presented certificates to six attending winners and engaged in in-depth discussions on one-person household policy ideas based on their proposals.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Gwangjin-gu ranks seventh among Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts in the number of one-person households. I hope you will help fill in what is lacking or missing from the perspective of one-person households together with Gwangjin-gu.”
Jung Soon-hyun, who won the Grand Prize with the proposal ‘One-Person Household Fire Safety Insurance and Fire Extinguisher Support,’ and Park Soo-kyung, who received an Encouragement Award for ‘Developing an App for One-Person Household Check-ins, Rescue Requests, and Bartering,’ emphasized the need for services universally accessible to all one-person households.
Also, Choi Jae-young, who won the Excellence Award for ‘Storage of Belongings for One-Person Households with Limited Living Space,’ and Park Jae-hyung, who earned a Merit Award for ‘Moving Vehicle Support Service and Moving Cooperative,’ provided an opportunity to consider building one-person household services through private cooperation.
Furthermore, Nam Jae-won and Park Da-yeon, who won Merit Awards with proposals for a ‘Safety Bell that plays a recorded male voice when a stranger rings the doorbell’ and ‘Homecam Rental for Empty House Visits by Others for Furniture Delivery, Gas Inspection, etc.,’ spoke about the increase and prevention of crimes targeting one-person households.
In addition, Gwak Ki-sik and Kim Gureum, who received Encouragement Awards for ‘Encouraging Ten-Thousand-Step Walking Exercise for Elderly One-Person Households’ and ‘Operating Cultural Classes for Exchange between Young and Middle-Aged One-Person Generations,’ respectively, also made proposals.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho stated, “I strongly empathize with the policy ideas proposed based on actual experiences and issues, and we will thoroughly review to ensure these policies can be realized. Gwangjin-gu is currently making efforts for one-person households through initiatives such as the ‘Youth Portal’ and ‘Support for Elderly Living Alone,’ so please make good use of Gwangjin-gu’s resources.”
