AfricaTV Partners with Thai Telecom 'True' to Enter Local Market
AfreecaTV announced on the 6th that it has signed a partnership with True, the largest telecommunications company in Thailand, to expand and localize its presence in the Thai and Southeast Asian markets. True is a major Thai telecommunications company providing entertainment media services including wired internet, cable TV, 5G mobile communication services, IPTV, and online games.
Through this partnership, AfreecaTV plans to leverage True’s 5G communication and network user base by utilizing its platform and live streaming strengths to expand its user pool in Thailand. Furthermore, it aims to discover local Thai BJs (Broadcasting Jockeys, individual media broadcasters) and create an environment where they can freely broadcast.
To this end, AfreecaTV will collaborate with True to launch the local Thai mobile phone SIM card called the 'True 5G eSports SIM Card.' Users who purchase the 'True 5G eSports SIM Card' will receive 2GB of data along with a functional item called 'Quick View,' which allows them to watch AfreecaTV live streaming and VOD without video advertisements.
