Gokseong-gun Signs Innovation MOU with Local Small and Medium Enterprises

Local Business Development and Response to Regional Depopulation

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) announced on the 1st that it signed a business agreement (MOU) for innovation in local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to respond to regional extinction.

Through this, Gokseong-gun will receive 4.9 billion KRW from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (hereinafter referred to as MOIS) and up to 2.2 billion KRW from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (hereinafter referred to as MSS).

The business agreement ceremony was held at the Korea Traditional Culture University located in Buyeo-gun, Chungnam.

Attendees included the vice ministers of MOIS and MSS, the deputy governor of Chungnam, the director of the Chungbuk Economic and Trade Bureau, and deputy heads of 12 basic local governments.

The "Local SME Innovation Public Contest Project," announced in March, is a project jointly promoted by MOIS and MSS for the first time this year.

The core of the "Local SME Innovation Public Contest Project" is to plan and propose tasks for job creation through fostering local companies by linking the Regional Extinction Response Fund and local SME support projects.

Gokseong-gun was selected as an excellent project for its support task for resident companies linked to the Regional Extinction Response Fund projects, namely the "Rustic Town Advancement Project" and the "Gokseong, Doraji Village Creation Project."

Through the contest selection, the county will receive administrative and financial support from MSS and MOIS.

Additionally, by signing the business agreement, it will receive bonus points in next year's Regional Extinction Response Fund evaluation and preferential treatment in linked item evaluations.

Lee Gwi-dong, Deputy Governor of Gokseong-gun, said before the agreement ceremony, “This was a very meaningful occasion promising joint support from MSS and MOIS for the settlement and fostering of local companies in Gokseong-gun. With this great assistance, we will accelerate the successful implementation of regional extinction response strategies.”
