Yeonggwang-gun, Jaegyeong Yeonggwang-gun Hyangwoo Association Regular General Meeting and Sports Competition Held

Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 31st that it held the ‘2023 Annual General Meeting and Unity Sports Festival of the Yeonggwang-gun Association in Seoul’ on the 28th at the National Assembly Plaza in Yeouido, Seoul.

The event was attended by about 40 people, including members of the Yeonggwang County Council, senior officials of Yeonggwang-gun, and related organizations and social groups, and was promoted with the purpose of “fostering a sense of community among hometown members, boosting pride, enhancing love for the hometown, and uniting solidarity.”

Despite the rain, about 1,500 members of the Yeonggwang-gun Association in Seoul attended, sharing hometown affection through various programs such as the general meeting and soccer matches between towns and townships, creating an opportunity to strengthen infinite trust in the association.

It was especially heartwarming as the event was held for the first time in seven years.

In his greeting, Cho Seong-ho, president of the Yeonggwang-gun Association in Seoul, said, “With the slogan ‘Longing for Yeonggwang, My Hometown I Want to Visit, and a Hometown Association We Build Together,’ we aim to create a mutually prosperous hometown association.”

About 40 attendees from Yeonggwang-gun visited each town and township booth, promoted county projects such as the Hometown Love Donation System, and had a warm time listening to the life stories of the members living in Seoul.

Governor Kang Jong-man said, “I congratulate and thank the hometown members who visited the event venue despite the rain with a heartfelt love for their hometown and strong bonds, and I am actively working with about 1,000 public officials to restore the prosperous image of Yeonggwang in the past.”

He added, “Under the banner of ‘Great Yeonggwang, Together with the Citizens,’ I ask our hometown members to continue to have love for their hometown and steady interest and cooperation to achieve a great transformation, greater change, and leap forward for Yeonggwang, and to gather wisdom for the county’s development and prosperity in the future.”
