MFDS Implements 'Pre-Notification' for Narcotic Painkillers... 768 Physicians Notified of Misuse
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 31st that it will implement a 'Pre-Notification System' that sends written notices to 768 doctors who prescribed narcotic analgesics beyond the misuse control standards and will track and manage whether improvements are made.
This measure is based on the analysis of big data on narcotic analgesic prescriptions collected through the Narcotics Integrated Management System over six months from October last year to March this year. The Ministry selected doctors who prescribed beyond the misuse control standards, such as prescribing for more than three months during this period, as notification targets.
The Ministry plans to monitor the prescribing improvements of the targeted doctors over approximately three months. Administrative actions will be taken against doctors who continue to violate the misuse control standards in their prescriptions.
