Temporary Naver Access Disruption Due to Disaster Alert Text... Currently Restored
On the morning of the 31st, a temporary outage occurred on Naver's mobile service due to a sudden surge in traffic caused by the sending of disaster alert messages.
From around 6:40 AM for about 10 minutes, a temporary disruption occurred on the Naver mobile app. The Naver main screen displayed a message saying, "Service is unavailable due to a temporary network error," and "Please try again shortly."
The service disruption happened as access traffic surged following the disaster alert messages. At 6:32 AM that day, Seoul City issued a warning alert for the Seoul area and sent urgent disaster messages instructing evacuation. It appears that the number of portal users, including Naver, increased sharply to obtain specific information such as the reason for the warning alert and evacuation locations.
