Dong-A University held the launch and academic seminar of the Leading University for Unification Education.


The ‘2023 Unification Sympathy Academic Conference’ was co-hosted by Dong-A University (Yeongnam region), Korea National University of Transportation (Seoul region), and Daejin University (Gyeonggi region), which were selected by the Ministry of Unification’s Leading University for Unification Education Project Group, and was supported by the Ministry of Unification’s National Unification Education Institute and the Busan International Exchange Foundation.


The event took place on the 26th at the Seokdang Museum on the Bumin Campus under the theme ‘Great Transformation of Unification Education in the DX Era,’ with attendees including Dong-A University President Lee Hae-woo, Lim Joon-taek, Chairman of the Central Council of the Barun Life Movement, Hwang Young-ha, Director of the Foreign Affairs and Trade Department of Busan City, and Hwang Ki-sik, Secretary General of the Busan International Exchange Foundation.


In his opening remarks, President Lee said, “Since 2014, Dong-A University has been designated as the Busan regional unification education center by the Ministry of Unification for six years, striving for unification education in both the university and the region,” adding, “We will continue to cooperate with Busan City and the Ministry of Unification to carry out various projects and advance unification education.”

In the first session of the event, moderated by Professor Im Seok-jun of Dong-A University, Moon In-cheol, Research Fellow at the Seoul Institute, presented on ‘Unification Education Methods Suitable for the Digital Transformation Era,’ and Professor Lee Ki-wan of Changwon National University spoke on ‘Creating a Unification Environment and Domestic Challenges.’

During the event, a ‘Cooperation Agreement Ceremony for Establishing a Leading Network for Peaceful Unification Education between the South and North’ was also held among the project groups of Dong-A University, Korea National University of Transportation, Daejin University, and the Busan International Exchange Foundation.



These institutions agreed to collaborate on projects to promote unification awareness among university students and spread unification discourse, research and development evaluation related to peace and unification issues and education, training of experts, content development, production of lecture materials, peace and unification education, and joint planning and hosting of various projects.
