Professor Heo Jin-seok of Korea National Sport University Awarded 2023 Korean Poetry Literature Prize
Professor Heo Jin-seok of Korea National Sport University received the "Korean Poetry Literature Award" presented by the quarterly literary magazine Literature and Creation.
According to Literature and Creation, Poet Heo was honored with the 2023 Korean Poetry Literature Award for his work including "Twilight of Granada" and two other poems. Poet Park Bun-pil was a co-recipient for his works including "Yangnamju Columnar Joint" and two other poems.
Literature and Creation evaluated, "At a time when the development of future society's science and technology raises concerns that the boundaries between humans and machines, and even between species, may be erased, Poet Heo Jin-seok skillfully expressed the anxiety over the possible erasure of the boundary between humans and machines through poetic metaphor."

Poet Heo was born in Seoul and graduated from Dongguk University with a degree in Korean literature. He began his literary career in 1985 through Modern Poetry. He has published poetry collections such as From the Death of the Typewriter to Illegal Sex (1994), Darkness in X-Ray Film (2001), and All the Painful Places Come to Mind (2019), and received the 33rd Dongguk Literary Award in 2020.
