Gyeonggi-do Invests 452.2 Billion KRW in Education Support Projects Last Year... Ensuring Student Health Rights and More

View original imageGyeonggi Province, in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, invested 452.2 billion KRW last year (including 60.7 billion KRW from the provincial budget) to carry out eight projects such as asbestos removal from school buildings in 6,401 elementary, middle, high, and special schools.
On the 25th, the two organizations held the "1st Meeting of the Gyeonggi Province Education Support Deliberation Committee" at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office to discuss the evaluation results of the 2022 Province-Education Office Education Support Projects, which included these details.
First, the two organizations conducted the "School Building Asbestos Removal Project," which removes asbestos classified as a Group 1 carcinogen from classrooms and other areas, in 216 schools?66 more than the initial target of 150 schools.
They also implemented the "Experiential Disaster Safety Education Equipment Support," which supports practice- and experience-oriented education using fire extinguishers, CPR mannequins, gas masks, defibrillators, and more, in 400 schools.
In addition, ▲uniform costs were supported for approximately 244,000 new students in 1,244 middle and high schools ▲learning equipment incentives were provided to 11 schools to promote fairness in private schools ▲indoor gymnasium construction was supported in 83 schools ▲traffic safety guidance was conducted on school routes in 821 schools ▲and 1,902 Gyeonggi Dream Schools and 1,782 Gyeonggi Dream University courses were held for rural area youth.
The Deliberation Committee will reflect the evaluation results in next year’s project plans after further discussion at the second meeting scheduled for October.
