'Coin Listing Corruption' Former Coinone Employee and Broker "Admit Charges"
Former employees of Coinone, a cryptocurrency exchange, who acted as listing brokers and exchanged bribes for coin listings, have admitted to the charges.
At the first trial held at 10:15 a.m. on the 25th before Judge Kim Jeong-gi of the Criminal Division 7 at the Seoul Southern District Court, listing broker Go (44) and former listing director Jeon (41) admitted to the charges. Go is accused of mediation of breach of trust, while Jeon faces charges of receiving breach of trust and obstruction of business.
However, Jeon's side stated, "We basically admit to the charges, but since we have not yet reviewed all the evidence records, we will present our final opinion after examination."
Go's side said, "Although we could not copy the evidence records either, there seems to be nothing to object to," adding, "We want a swift trial."
Another broker Hwang (38), accused of mediation of breach of trust and violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes related to concealment of criminal proceeds, and former Coinone team leader Kim (31), accused of receiving breach of trust, stated, "We have not finished reviewing the evidence records," and said they would present their opinions at the next hearing.

They were indicted and detained on charges of exchanging bribes while requesting listings of coins issued domestically from 2020 to last year on Coinone. According to the prosecution, broker Go provided Jeon and Kim with coins and cash worth approximately 330 million KRW and 580 million KRW, respectively. Another broker Hwang was investigated to have provided Jeon and Kim with coins worth approximately 1.59 billion KRW and 430 million KRW, respectively.
