Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do is achieving remarkable results in exchange and cooperation with Yiwu City, China, which has the world's largest wholesale market.
According to the county on the 23rd, a delegation including Myeong Hyeon-gwan, the governor of Haenam-gun, visited Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, China from the 21st to the 24th to tour major economic sites and discuss ways to expand exports of Haenam agricultural products.

On the 23rd, Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan, Yi Fangrui, Mayor of Yiwu, and Wang Wei, Vice Mayor, attended a signing ceremony for a friendship and cooperation memorandum of understanding, agreeing to seek mutual development of the two local governments through broad exchanges in economic trade, agriculture, tourism, and more.
In particular, at the signing ceremony, Mayor Yi Fangrui spontaneously proposed strengthening exchanges in agricultural and fishery distribution, expanding exchanges among local governments, enterprises, and organizations, and supporting youth commercial activities in Yiwu City. Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan readily accepted these proposals and suggested an upcoming visit to Haenam, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the event.
Governor Myeong said, “Despite the will of both local governments to strengthen friendly cooperation, mutual visits had not been possible due to various circumstances. Through this visit to China, we have made substantial progress in our relationship and created an opportunity to better understand each other. Yiwu City, a global consumer goods production and trade city, and Haenam-gun, which possesses high-quality agricultural products and renewable energy resources, are expected to achieve synergy as economic partners sharing future development.”
