Busan City and Korea Coast Guard Sign MOU for Hosting and Successful Execution of Expo 2030 Busan
Agreement Ceremony at City Hall on the 23rd at 2 PM
Support for Maritime Security Capabilities and International Cooperation Network Planned
On the 23rd at 2 p.m., Busan City will sign a “Memorandum of Understanding for the Attraction and Successful Hosting of the 2030 World Expo Busan” with the Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard at the International Protocol Room of City Hall.
This agreement was prepared to receive support from the Korea Coast Guard’s world-class maritime security capabilities and international cooperation network for the attraction and successful hosting of the 2030 World Expo Busan.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun and Commissioner Kim Jong-wook of the Korea Coast Guard are scheduled to attend the signing ceremony and personally sign the memorandum of understanding.
Once this MOU is signed, the two organizations will cooperate to attract the 2030 World Expo Busan by ▲supporting the Korea Coast Guard’s international cooperation network specialized in Pacific Island countries ▲providing support such as the latest vessels and aircraft when influential overseas figures visit Busan, and ▲in the event of a successful bid, cooperating on various maritime security supports from the Korea Coast Guard, including countermeasures against maritime terrorism and security and protection for the successful hosting.
In addition to cooperation for the attraction and successful hosting of the 2030 World Expo Busan, the two organizations will actively collaborate to create a safe and clean marine environment for future generations.
In particular, the Korea Coast Guard has signed and maintains various MOUs for international cooperation with 16 countries adjacent to Asia and the Pacific, so it is expected to have significant influence in securing the local foundation for attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo in the Pacific Island countries and inviting influential figures from these countries to Busan.
Commissioner Kim Jong-wook of the Korea Coast Guard said, “I deeply appreciate that the Korea Coast Guard, which was launched in Busan in 1953, returns to its hometown after 70 years to participate in supporting the attraction of the 2030 Busan World Expo,” and expressed his will to support by saying, “I hope to continue various cooperation to create a safe and clean Busan sea along with international community support through this agreement.”
