"15-Month-Old Child Hit with Back Scratcher"…Childcare Provider License Suspended
The police have launched an investigation after a report was received that a childcare worker employed by a basic local government contractor abused a 15-month-old child.
According to the Women's and Juvenile Investigation Unit of the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency and Ganghwa County, Incheon, on the 20th, a single parent recently reported that "A, a childcare worker in her 60s, abused her 15-month-old son B by hitting or pushing him from June last year until recently."
Ganghwa County, which manages the contractor to which A belongs, investigated the facts after receiving a complaint from the parent. It is known that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed in the home captured scenes of A hitting B's thigh with a back scratcher and pushing his body. A reportedly claimed during Ganghwa County's investigation that there was no intention to abuse the child.
Ganghwa County suspended A's childcare worker qualification and launched a full investigation. The police who received the report plan to summon B's parents and A in turn soon to investigate the specific circumstances.
