This is the second meeting following the one held in March at the Yeonggang-dong Eoullim Center, which involved deputy managers and assistant managers from departments related to external cooperation of public institutions.
The meeting was arranged in a comfortable setting such as tourist spots and restaurants rather than official venues or conference rooms to facilitate candid conversations.
The purpose was to build everyday rapport and mutual understanding between local government officials and public institution employees before discovering win-win cooperation projects.
Although most of the 16 public institutions in Bitgaram Innovation City are approaching their 10th year since relocation, there have been virtually no regular communication channels, collaborative cases, or achievements with Naju City until now.
Accordingly, Mayor Yoon Byung-tae emphasized the establishment of dialogue and cooperation networks between the 16 relocated public institutions and national and provincial institutions as a key focus area of city administration this year.
The city plans to strengthen regional development partnerships by introducing a department responsibility system that matches local government departments with national, public, and public institutions on a one-to-one basis to discover cooperative projects and leading models.
The city intends to regularize dialogue sessions with employees of the 16 relocated public institutions to share mutual suggestions and practical cooperation matters with public institutions and to discover social contribution projects that citizens can feel.
The second meeting was held following a proposal by Korea Electric Power Corporation during the first practical staff meeting.
The meeting at Naju Moksa Naea was attended by Naju City Deputy Mayor Kang Young-gu and executives such as vice presidents and headquarters directors from 10 public institutions including Korea Electric Power Corporation, KEPCO KPS, Korea Power Exchange, Korea Rural Community Corporation, Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Rural Development Administration Food Technology Planning and Evaluation Institute, Korea Rural Economic Institute, Korea Internet & Security Agency, and Korea Arts Council.
The city requested the opening of public institution parking lots, sports, cultural, and convenience facilities in response to residents’ activity demands following the easing of COVID-19 conditions.
It also asked for active participation and promotion by public institution employees’ families in the resumption of the ‘Naju City Tour,’ which allows visits to various local tourist sites every Saturday and on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
The city urged cooperation in spreading a culture of good consumption to revitalize the local commercial district, including the use of Naju Love Gift Certificates and consideration of a once-a-week closure system for public institution cafeterias.
Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “I hope that the two meetings involving practical staff and executives will open a channel for regular communication between innovation city public institutions approaching their 10th year since relocation and the administration.”
He added, “Through regular meetings, we will share major tasks and projects among institutions to increase mutual understanding, prevent investment in overlapping projects, and discover new cooperative projects to promote regional win-win development with minimal cost and maximum effect.”
