President Yoon Suk-yeol instructed the ministers who accompanied him during his visit to the United States at the end of last month to publish educational materials related to the history of science for children, and it has been revealed that the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Education are currently reviewing and discussing the production of these materials.

He explained that on the 24th of last month, during the departure for the U.S. visit, President Yoon held a meeting with several accompanying ministers, where he emphasized the importance of science history education for children and that they are actually discussing the production of related educational materials.
Minister Lee said, "(President Yoon) stated that to excel in science, technology, or mathematics, one must understand their history well. He emphasized the importance of learning the history of science from elementary school," adding, "He said that knowing why we learn calculus provides motivation, and instructed us to create materials explaining how science and technology emerged and what impact they have had." Accordingly, Minister Lee explained that after returning from the U.S., internal discussions have been underway to prepare the compilation of educational materials in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

Minister Lee also commented on President Yoon's knowledge and policy perspective on science and technology, saying, "Communication is going well. He seems very curious, interested in science and technology, and enjoys it," and added, "Through various meetings, he continues to develop, and I felt that his understanding is very good."
