Boseong-gun, Agreement for 'Saving Our Village Ditches'
Cooperation Agreement Ceremony Between Public and Private Sectors to Promote Public Project
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it signed a business agreement for ‘Saving Our Village Ditches’ with two organizations: the Boseong-gun Saemaeul Association and the Bupyeong 1-dong Residents' Association.
Selected for the Ministry of Environment’s ‘2023 Saving Our Village Ditches’ contest project, Boseong-gun held a public-private cooperation agreement ceremony to ensure smooth project implementation.
About 40 participants from Boseong-gun, the Boseong-gun Saemaeul Association, and the Bupyeong 1-dong Residents' Association attended the agreement ceremony. Going forward, Boseong-gun and the two organizations will jointly carry out environmental cleanup activities to improve water quality and aquatic ecosystem conditions.
Boseong-gun plans to invest 35 million won in the project, which includes △ joint public-private environmental cleanup activities, △ planting water-purifying plants, △ resident environmental promotion and education, and △ environmental monitoring before and after the ditch restoration project.
A Boseong-gun official stated, “Through the ditch restoration project, we aim to restore the old scenes of children splashing in village ditches and catching crayfish, and develop this into a public-private cooperative movement for ecological health.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Saving Our Village Ditches Project’ aims to restore the old water channels of village ditches, creating waterfront spaces where rivers and humans coexist, leading to improved quality of life for residents and the recovery of village communities. The project is scheduled to continue until December this year.
