Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Labor and Management Begin Full-Scale Wage Negotiations This Year
Basic Salary Increased by 184,900 Won, Demand for Formation of Joint Negotiation TF
Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of HD Hyundai, has officially begun wage negotiations this year.
On the 17th, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries and the Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries branch of the Korean Metal Workers' Union announced that on the 16th, labor and management negotiation members, including President Shin Hyundai and Branch Chief Hwang Hyung-su, held a preliminary wage negotiation meeting.

The union submitted its wage negotiation demands to management on the 13th of last month. On the 17th of the same month, they delivered joint demands from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Electric, and HD Hyundai Construction Equipment to the HD Hyundai Group.
The individual demands of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries included △ stabilization of the labor union △ improvement of treatment for retirees and subcontractors △ new hiring of production workers and guarantee of retirement age △ phased overseas training for all union members.
The joint demands included △ a basic salary increase of 184,900 KRW (excluding step increments) △ formation of a joint negotiation task force (TF) to improve negotiation efficiency △ new hiring △ guarantee of union participation in the ESG Management Committee △ issuance of 500,000 KRW gift certificates each for the labor-management founding anniversary △ guarantee of 5 days of paid summer vacation for subcontracted workers.
Branch Chief Hwang Hyung-su stated, “As this year’s performance has greatly improved, the expectations of union members are high, so we will strive to quickly reach a negotiation result that satisfies everyone.”
