A Rental Scam Also Occurred in Sejong West... Over 50 Confirmed Victims
A jeonse fraud case has occurred in Sejong City, prompting the police to launch an investigation. The suspects have been identified as a couple well-known in the local real estate industry.
On the 16th, the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Sejong Police Agency announced that they have booked Mr. A, a man in his 50s and CEO of a real estate corporation, and his husband on charges of fraud.
The couple is suspected of purchasing apartments and urban-style residential housing through gap investment and failing to return the jeonse deposits to some tenants even after the expiration of the jeonse contracts.
The police recently conducted searches of their residence, rental office, and real estate agencies, securing documents such as jeonse contracts. More than 50 victims have filed complaints with the police, suggesting that there may be additional victims.
