The 'iF Design Award', one of the three most prestigious design awards, is an international competition where about 10,000 projects submitted in seven categories?product, packaging, communication, interior, professional concept, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), and architecture?are judged by over 130 design experts from various countries. The evaluation considers innovation, skill, functionality, aesthetics, social responsibility, and positioning.
Hyundai Rotem's hydrogen electric tram is a next-generation eco-friendly transportation powered by hydrogen. Its research and development began in 2021 as a demonstration project led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and final development is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The hydrogen electric tram is designed to emphasize both aesthetic design elements and practicality that considers passenger safety.
Hyundai Rotem plans to actively promote the social benefits of the hydrogen electric tram following this award. The tram can purify approximately 800㎍ (micrograms) of fine dust per hour during operation and produce 107.6 kg of clean air. It also enables low-floor operation to guarantee mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups.
