First Trial of Samgang S&C CEO for Major Accident, Charges Fully Denied
The first trial for the CEO of Samgang S&C, who was indicted on charges of violating the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, was held on the 15th.
At the trial held at the Tongyeong Branch of Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam, presided over by Criminal Division 1, the defense attorney for CEO A reportedly denied all charges.
They argued that the actual accident site was different from what the prosecution claimed and that safety measures were not violated because safety belts had been provided.
According to the court, CEO A was brought to trial on charges of failing to take adequate safety measures related to an incident on February 19 last year, where a worker in his 50s fell while repairing ship railings at a workplace in Goseong County.

The court plans to hold a second trial, including witness examination, at the same location at 3 p.m. on June 26.
