Catch 'Three Rabbits' with One App... BPA Improves Port Operation Processes
Busan Port Authority (BPA) is developing a ‘Port Operation Process Improvement and Integrated Mobile App’ that can simultaneously achieve safety, cost reduction, and eco-friendliness.
On the 15th, BPA announced that it is promoting the project to build a ‘Port Operation Process Improvement and Integrated Mobile App for Enhancing Safety at Busan Port’ using the cargo truck driver-exclusive mobile app ‘AllCon e’.
AllCon e is a mobile app developed by BPA as a key service of the Port Logistics Integrated Platform (Chain Portal), which has been established since 2019 as part of the smart and digital transformation of Busan Port. It allows cargo truck drivers to conveniently use systems such as the Vehicle Booking System (VBS) and Transshipment Transport System (TSS).
BPA plans to link terminal operator information to ‘AllCon e’ to digitize the container receipt certificate, which is currently issued on paper, and to provide cargo truck drivers with related information for each work stage, such as inspection and cleaning yards, through the mobile app.
Once the system is built, cargo truck drivers will be able to easily check the cargo loading/unloading location, work sequence, and notifications of inspection/cleaning completion without leaving their vehicles after entering the terminal.
Currently, when cargo truck drivers arrive at the terminal, they first receive a paper receipt certificate at the gate. If an error occurs, they must get out of the vehicle and go to the office to have it reissued.
More than 20 million paper receipt certificates are issued annually across Busan Port, and these single-use certificates incur significant costs for issuance and maintenance.
Also, at container inspection and cleaning yards, cargo truck drivers cannot properly check the progress of work, so they have to get out of their vehicles and directly confirm with workers, exposing themselves to accident risks.
BPA plans to complete system development by the end of September. After a pilot operation on-site by the end of this year, the project aims to apply the system to all container terminals at Busan Port starting next year.
Once this system is established, cargo truck drivers will no longer need to get out of their vehicles within the terminal, reducing the risk of safety accidents. Terminal operators will be able to reduce the time and cost required for issuing paper receipt certificates. Additionally, it will have the effect of reducing environmental pollution caused by paper receipt certificates.
