Vocational Teacher Sentenced to 7 Years for Repeated Sexual Assault of Intellectually Disabled Person
A former vocational education teacher in his 50s was sentenced to prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman with an intellectual disability.
According to the legal community on the 15th, the 12th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (presiding judge Kim Sang-gyu) sentenced A (in his 50s), who was indicted for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, to seven years in prison.
He was also ordered to complete 80 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and was banned from employment for seven years at institutions related to children and adolescents as well as welfare facilities for the disabled.
A is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting and illegally filming B (female, in her 30s), a person with severe disabilities whom he taught, at a disability protection workshop in Gwangju Metropolitan City from November 2021 to May of last year.
Meanwhile, Dong-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City requested an administrative disposition and a legal interpretation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare only two months after receiving the report of the incident.
