This exhibition was planned to spread a culture of social participation among youth who remember and empathize with major social disasters and embrace new hope, as well as to build a consensus.
Earlier, from February to last month, the education center held a contest divided into kindergarten, elementary, and middle/high school categories under the themes of 'Memorial for Social Disasters and Hope for a Safe Society.' Among a total of 1,022 drawings, 99 award-winning works selected through judging will be exhibited this time.
Jeon Myeong-seon, director of the 4·16 Democratic Citizenship Education Center, said, "We carefully and fairly judged over a thousand students' works to select the award-winning pieces," adding, "We expect this exhibition to be a meaningful time to empathize with the thoughts of students living in the present."
