It is a comeback by ‘PGA star’ Im Sung-jae.
On the 14th, Im Sung-jae shot a 4-under-par 68 in the final 4th round of the Korean Professional Golf (KPGA) Korean Tour Woori Financial Championship (total prize money 1.5 billion KRW) held at Ferrum Club in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do (par 72, 7,232 yards), securing a 1-stroke victory (10-under-par 278). This is his second Korean Tour win in 3 years and 7 months since the Genesis Championship in October 2019, with a winner’s prize of 300 million KRW.

Starting from a tie for 4th place, 5 strokes behind, Im Sung-jae recorded 1 eagle, 4 birdies, and 2 bogeys. Although bogeys on the 6th and 8th holes distanced him from the title race, he changed the momentum with a birdie on the 9th hole (par 5). Im then dominated the leaderboard with a birdie on the 11th hole (par 4), an eagle on the 12th hole (par 5), and a birdie on the 13th hole (par 5), before clinching the come-from-behind victory with a crucial birdie on the final 18th hole (par 5).
Im Sung-jae, ranked 18th in the world and holding 2 wins on the PGA Tour, is a leading figure in Korean men’s golf. Last year, he intended to participate in the Woori Financial Championship but withdrew after contracting COVID-19 just before the tournament. After a year of perseverance, he capped it off with a spectacular finale. Im said, "The eagle on the 12th hole seemed to be the turning point," and added, "I think I won because many people cheered for me," expressing his joy.
