'Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival Held in Seongnam' Closes After 3 Days of Passion

Seongnam City held the closing ceremony of the '69th Gyeonggi-do Sports Festival 2023 Seongnam,' which was hosted again after 18 years, at the Seongnam Sports Complex Multipurpose Gymnasium on that day, and announced on the 14th that the festival flag was handed over to the next host city, Paju.
Under the slogan "Better Gyeonggi, Hope in Seongnam," the event was held over three days starting from the 11th. In Division 1, the Exemplary Athlete Team Award was won by Seongnam City, the host of the festival, taking first place. Gwangju City and Hwaseong City took second and third place respectively.
In Division 2, the Exemplary Athlete Team Award went to Yangpyeong County in first place, with Uiwang City and Gwangmyeong City taking second and third place respectively. The Most Outstanding Athlete Award was given to Kim Da-eun (Gapyeong County) in athletics. Kim Da-eun won four titles including first place in the women's general division 100m, 200m, 400m relay, and 1600m relay. The Orderly Conduct Award went to the Gyeonggi-do Athletics Federation.
In his farewell speech, Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin expressed, "This festival was a beautiful harmonious sports event where 14 million Gyeonggi-do residents competed for victory while caring for and encouraging each other," and added, "The successful completion of the festival was thanks to the dedicated efforts of over 1,000 volunteers."
He continued, "I thank all the athletes who showed the spirit of sports with passion and sweat until the last day of the festival in Seongnam, a special city for Korea's 4th Industrial Revolution," and added, "I hope the festival held in Paju next year will also be well prepared and achieve great results."

The closing ceremony was attended by Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin, Gyeonggi Province Deputy Governor for Administration Oh Byung-kwon, Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il, Seongnam City Council Chairman Park Kwang-soon, Gyeonggi-do Sports Council Chairman Lee Won-sung, and Seongnam Sports Council Chairman Lee Yong-gi, among others.
