Lee Taegyu "Members of the National Assembly and Grade 4 or Higher Assistants Must Disclose Cryptocurrency Holdings"
Lee Tae-gyu, a member of the People Power Party, criticized Kim Nam-guk, a Democratic Party lawmaker suspected of holding cryptocurrency worth billions, saying, "Isn't this showing an extremely hypocritical and double life?" He also argued that members of the National Assembly and aides at grade 4 or higher should disclose their cryptocurrency holdings.
On the 12th, Lee said on YTN's 'The News,' "Outwardly, he expressed great anger over the Itaewon disaster, but behind the scenes, he engaged in personal profit-making activities. How can this possibly be tolerated?"
The ruling party also filed a complaint with the National Assembly Ethics Committee against Kim for trading cryptocurrency while serving on a standing committee. Lee said, "This is naturally a matter for the Ethics Committee," adding, "When a lawmaker performs activities on a standing committee, they are carrying out official duties. Engaging in personal profit-seeking during the execution of these duties is, in any respect, an unforgivable act."
However, Lee took a cautious stance on whether Kim's issue would expand into the gaming industry's 'lobbying problem.' He said, "We cannot make such a definitive conclusion. However, there have been allegations that the Game Association or related parties have lobbied the legislature using issues like cryptocurrency or other matters. Therefore, it is important for both ruling and opposition parties to thoroughly investigate this."

To this end, he emphasized the need for a full investigation not only of lawmakers but also of their aides. Lee stated, "Members of the National Assembly and aides at grade 4 or higher must undergo a comprehensive investigation of their cryptocurrency trading records and holdings and disclose all of this information. Only then can the public recognize that the political sphere has the ability to self-purify and is making efforts to reform."
