Male to Female Transition... Sexual Assault of Female Friend → Imprisoned in Male Prison, British Man in His 20s
Sexual Assault Again Immediately After Release for Minor Sexual Offense
A British individual who transitioned from male to female will be incarcerated in a male prison for sexually assaulting a female friend.
According to the BBC and Daily Mail, the Bristol court in the UK sentenced transgender woman Lexi-Rose Crawford (24) to 9 years in prison on the charge of sexual assault and ordered her to serve the sentence in a male prison on the 10th (local time).
Crawford, who was born male and transitioned to female, committed sexual assault at the home of a female friend in April 2019. This occurred shortly after being released from prison, where she had served a 4-year sentence for committing a sexual offense against a minor under 15 in 2017. Crawford was released on parole in January 2019.
Crawford first met the victim through Facebook. Initially friends, she visited the victim’s home under the pretense of playing games together and then committed the sexual assault.
At the trial, the victim urged for a severe punishment, stating that she suffered trauma from the sexual assault and attempted suicide multiple times.
Crawford denied the charges, claiming she did not remember the incident, but the court rejected this, stating, “Whether she remembers or not, it is clear that the perpetrator ignored the victim’s refusal and resistance and committed the crime.”
The court sentenced Crawford to 9 years in prison and ordered incarceration in a male prison.
Until the time of the sexual assault against the minor in 2015, Crawford identified as male, but after completing her sentence and being released, she began to define herself as female. The court believes that Crawford used her female gender identity to target vulnerable individuals and commit the crimes.

The UK government has, since February this year, ensured that transgender women who have committed sexual offenses or possess male bodies are not housed in female prisons. Zara Jade, a transgender woman accused of wielding a weapon and restraining her partner, was also incarcerated in a male prison in March of this year.
