German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will officially visit South Korea on the 21st (local time) and hold a summit with President Yoon Suk-yeol.
A senior German government official announced this schedule during a briefing on the 11th (local time).

After attending the Group of Seven (G7) summit held in Hiroshima, Japan, on the same day, Chancellor Scholz is scheduled to arrive in South Korea and then head to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). He will then have a one-on-one summit and an expanded meeting with President Yoon, followed by dinner with President Yoon and his spouse, before returning to Germany. Chancellor Scholz will be accompanied by his wife, Britta Ernst, on this visit.

This is the first visit by a German chancellor to South Korea in 13 years, since former Chancellor Angela Merkel visited for the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in 2010. It is also the first official visit for a bilateral meeting with the South Korean president in 30 years, since former Chancellor Helmut Kohl's visit in 1993.
