Former President Moon Jae-in on the 10th urged the Democratic Party leadership, saying, "There are various difficult situations both domestically and internationally before us, so I ask the Democratic Party to unite and show a more integrated front to do their best in overcoming the current national difficulties."
On the same day, former President Moon received a visit from Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, floor leader Park Kwang-on, and other party leaders at his residence in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan, Gyeongnam.
After the private meeting, Kwon Chil-seung, the Democratic Party chief spokesperson, briefed reporters on the visit. Spokesperson Kwon said, "(Regarding former President Moon's call for unity) both Leader Lee and Floor Leader Park responded that 'the majority of lawmakers and party members want to be united within the party' in that regard," adding, "They even showed a gesture of holding hands in front of him."
When news about Leader Lee's visit to Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo was brought up as a topic, former President Moon said, "Dialogue is a kind of duty for politicians," and added, "Without dialogue, politics cannot function properly."
Additionally, former President Moon is known to have expressed his hope that "the Democratic Party regains its dynamism and transforms into a party loved by the younger generation."
