Daejeon City Refunds 780 Million KRW in Unclaimed Local Taxes
Daejeon City is taking steps to refund unclaimed local taxes.
The city announced on the 10th that it has designated this month as the "Local Tax Unclaimed Refunds Intensive Clearance Period" and will refund 783.05 million KRW (15,876 cases) of unclaimed local taxes.
The majority of the refunds are local income taxes and automobile taxes arising from reasons such as national tax corrections and vehicle ownership transfers or cancellations.
Inquiries and applications for local tax refunds can be made through Wetax, the Daejeon City ARS payment system, or the relevant district offices.
If a local tax refund account has been registered in advance via Wetax, the refund will be automatically transferred to the registered account without a separate application when the refund occurs.
Currently, the five autonomous districts are sending local tax refund payment notices to the recipients and promoting the recovery of unclaimed local taxes through their websites.

A city official stated, "We will actively proceed with refunds to restore taxpayers' rights and gain citizens' trust through transparent local tax administration."
