National Library for Children and Young Adults Becomes Easier and More Convenient to Use
Improving Online and Offline Accessibility by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 9th that it will improve online and offline accessibility to make it easier and more convenient for children and adolescents to use the National Library for Children and Young Adults. A 'K-Picture Book Video Curation Service' has been launched on the National Library for Children and Young Adults website to provide easy access to thematic materials and new arrivals. Additionally, a shuttle bus will operate twice daily from Exit 1 of Gangnam Station to facilitate comfortable movement and viewing of the special exhibition "Save the Forest in Crisis, Dispatch! Climate Defense Squad," which opened on the 5th.
"Save the Forest in Crisis, Dispatch! Climate Defense Squad" is an interactive exhibition where children and adolescents become defenders protecting the Earth, carrying out missions, and saving forests. It is designed as a time to reflect on the seriousness of ecosystem destruction caused by the climate crisis. Park Bo-gyun, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "An environment must be established where all citizens can easily and conveniently visit and use libraries," adding, "We will improve and introduce public accessibility not only at the National Library for Children and Young Adults but also at the National Library of Korea."

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is already concretizing the expansion of library services for vulnerable children and adolescents. It supports book and cultural programs at eleven juvenile protection institutions nationwide and provides services for children and adolescents at local children's centers to read books and enjoy culture and leisure in cooperation with 120 libraries. Customized programs for adolescents in special schools are also being developed, inviting disabled youth to the National Library for Children and Young Adults five times a year.
