Chinese Ambassador to North Korea Meets Choe Son-hui for the First Time Since Appointment

Choe Son-hui, North Korea's Foreign Minister, met with Wang Yajun, the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to North Korea, and reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral relations.
According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 9th, Foreign Minister Choe held talks with Ambassador Wang, who paid a courtesy visit on the 8th. Ambassador Wang, who previously served as Deputy Head of the International Liaison Department responsible for party-to-party diplomacy within the Chinese Communist Party, was appointed as ambassador to North Korea in February 2021. However, due to North Korea's border closures for COVID-19 prevention, he only assumed his post at the end of March this year.
Wang Yajun, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to North Korea, officially met with Choe Son-hui, North Korea's foreign minister, for the first time since his appointment.

The talks were attended by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Pak Myong-ho, other Foreign Ministry officials, and staff from the Chinese embassy including Minister-Counselor Feng Chuntai. A welcoming banquet for Ambassador Wang followed. Ambassador Wang officially began his duties after delivering a copy of his credentials to the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 3rd of last month, and three days later, he presented the original credentials to Choe Ryong-hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly.
