Gyeongbuk Province Accelerates Follow-up Measures for New National Industrial Complex Candidate Sites
After Selecting Project Operators for 3 National Industrial Complexes
2nd Meeting of the Pan-Government Promotion Support Group Held
Gyeongbuk Province has begun full-scale follow-up measures for the creation of new national industrial complexes.
Following the selection of the project implementer on March 15, Gyeongbuk Province participated on the 4th in the 2nd meeting of the promotion support group, which included the candidate site metropolitan and local governments, central government ministries (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Korea Forest Service, etc.), and related public institutions.
The meeting discussed the report on the selection results of project implementers for each candidate site, the announcement of plans for promoting new national industrial complexes, and support measures.
For the Gyeongju SMR National Industrial Complex, LH Corporation was selected as the sole project implementer, while for the Andong Bio-Life National Industrial Complex and Uljin Nuclear Hydrogen National Industrial Complex, LH Corporation and Gyeongbuk Development Corporation were jointly selected as project implementers.
Following the selection of project implementers, Gyeongbuk Province plans to accelerate follow-up measures such as preliminary feasibility studies and the establishment of industrial complex plans.
First, to ensure smooth project promotion, a working-level meeting will be held on the 10th to form a working consultative body with the project implementers and to conclude agreements, with the basic agreement expected to be finalized in May.
Efforts will also be made to secure corporate demand and to support the smooth progress of the preliminary feasibility study.

A Gyeongbuk Province official stated, “With the rapid selection of project implementers following the decision on national industrial complex candidate sites, swift project promotion has become possible. To support the achievements in the SMR, hydrogen, and bio sectors made during the President’s state visit to the United States, we plan to closely cooperate with the pan-government promotion support group.”
