Gyeonggi-do's 'AI Industry-Academia-Government Council' to Launch This June
Gyeonggi Province, local companies, universities, and research institutes will jointly propose policies and gather opinions for the development of the AI industry in Gyeonggi Province through the 'Gyeonggi Province AI Industry-Academia-Research-Association Council,' which will be launched in June.
On the 6th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the 'Gyeonggi Province AI Industry-Academia-Research-Association Council Meeting' on the 3rd at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Yeongtong, Suwon.
The meeting was held as a preliminary working group meeting to form the 'Gyeonggi Province AI Industry-Academia-Research-Association Council,' which is part of the Gyeonggi GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) promotion plan.
Earlier in March, the province announced the Gyeonggi GPT promotion plan (roadmap), which includes the formation of an expert think tank group led by the first deputy governor, as well as working divisions for ▲ citizen opportunities ▲ industrial opportunities ▲ administrative innovation.
At the meeting, opinions were shared regarding the composition and operation plans of the 'Gyeonggi Province AI Industry-Academia-Research-Association Council,' scheduled to be launched in June.
The council will serve as a channel for collecting opinions and proposing policies related to data and AI industry policies. It will also collaborate on developing educational curricula and employment linkage plans to nurture AI and data specialists, and support the establishment of AI ethics guidelines to help citizens safely utilize AI.

Kim Hyun-dae, Director of the Future Growth Industry Bureau of the province, emphasized, "In the era of ChatGPT, policies and industrial development utilizing AI technology are becoming increasingly important," adding, "Through the formation of the Industry-Academia-Research-Association Council, we will organically cooperate and complement each other among local companies, universities, and research institutes."
