Statistics Korea Holds Inauguration Ceremony for University Students' Statistical Education Volunteer Group
On the 4th, Statistics Korea announced that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 9th University Student Statistical Education Volunteer Group at the Daejeon Statistics Center.
Statistics Korea selected 226 university students from 45 teams to serve as volunteers who will help students grow into creative and convergent talents with statistical thinking skills.
The volunteer group will visit elementary, middle, and high schools that have applied for statistical education and provide customized statistical education during class hours, after-school learning, Saturday schools, and vacation camps.
Statistics Korea explained that with the recent spread of practical statistical education, interest in statistical education is increasing at all levels of schools, and requests for related education are also rising. The number of applicant schools increased by 62.7%, from 338 schools last year to 550 schools this year.
Statistics Korea plans to further expand the volunteer activities for statistical education so that more schools, small rural schools, and out-of-school children, among other educationally marginalized groups, can benefit.
