Choo Kyung-ho: "Korea Will Share Experiences in 'Digital Transformation, Green, and Health'"
Chairing the Business Session at the ADB Annual Meeting
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho stated on the 4th, "We will share experiences and knowledge in areas where Korea has a comparative advantage, such as digital transformation, green initiatives, and healthcare."
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Choo presided over the meeting as the chair of the business session at the 56th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and made these remarks.
The business session is a key event of the ADB annual meeting, where major agenda items such as the ADB annual report and budget, covering the bank's activities over the past year and future plans, are presented and approved. As chair, Deputy Prime Minister Choo opened the business session, approved the agenda, and delivered the first speech among member countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Choo emphasized, "Since the new government took office, Korea has been striving to become a responsible country contributing to universal values such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), human rights, freedom, and peace," adding, "To this end, despite a fiscal consolidation stance, we plan to expand the total Official Development Assistance (ODA) to rank among the top 10 globally."

He continued, "Yesterday, Korea decided to contribute $100 million over six years to the only ICT-related fund of the ADB, the Korea-only trust fund, and expressed its intention to participate as a potential donor in the Asia-Pacific Climate Innovation Finance Facility (IF-CAP), which is launching at this annual meeting," adding, "Furthermore, Korea will support ADB's transformation by strengthening multi-layered cooperation with ADB, including establishing the Korea Climate Technology Hub (K-Hub), agreed upon jointly with ADB, as a center for climate cooperation."
